I was born in Lymington, GB, in 1963 and have lived in Essex, London, Edinburgh, and, since 1988, Austria. I am married to an Italian, who is also an experienced translator, and we love being in touch with family, friends, colleagues and customers from all over the world. Professionally I have enjoyed working with many variants of English – there are so many more flavours than just GB and US – across a range of subjects, many of which I am genuinely interested in. I really enjoy translating and writing about those subjects in a way that captures the imagination of others as they have mine.

Besides work, I have a passion for outdoor sports, especially hiking, orienteering and sailing, where navigation skills are important. These skills are reflected in my life and my work, because finding the best way together is what matters most.

I am a Chartered Linguist, Member of the Chartered Institute of Linguists in London and trainee RYA Yachtmaster Offshore.
